avatar: the last airbender - aang - the beginning after the end
the beginning after the end
an aang!centric mix.
i'm just a normal boy that sank when i fell overboard. i'm sinking to the bottom
of everything that freaks me out. the lighthouse beam has just run out, i'm cold
as cold as cold can be. not knowing how to think, i scream aloud, begin to sink.
my legs and arms are broken down with envy for the solid ground. i'm reaching for
the life within me, how can one man stop his ending? i thought of just your face,
relaxed and floated into space.
o2. stars, winter bones
all i've known is that there is an end and then you can begin again. i had a dream
that the sea was helpless, the crowd was loud, i went to leave. can i come to your
house? you say, "is this a war?" hardly, and then you hit a wall. honestly, you want
to know but you can't. i believe, i want to believe, in anything. it's all i've ever
known.
o3. the fray, say when
later on if it turns to chaos, hurricance coming all around us, see the crack, pull
it back from the window, you stay low. it all began with a man and country, every
plan turns another century around again, another nation fallen. maybe god can be on
both sides of the gun, never understood why some of us never get it so good, so good.
some of this was here before us, all of this will go on after us. say when,
and my own two hands will comfort you, tonight.
o4. bowerbirds, oldest memory
i cracked my knuckles, and i said grace and gave thanks for being a hundred and
still feeling amazed. out where the waves wrestle with the dirty brine, this is a
lonely place. this was a home of mine. it's my oldest memory. and i don't know
whose land we're on, is this an island that plots like a villain, or an old ghost
friend we don't believe in?
o5. sarah slean, dark room
[ instrumental ]
o6. stars, the beginning after the end
oh the blood and the treasure and the losing it all. the time that we wasted and
the place where we fall. will we wake in the morning and know what is was for,
up in our bedrooms after the war?
o7. bobby johnston, one good reason for living
[ instrumental ]
o8. ben howard, old pine
hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags, i've come to know that memories were
the best things you ever had. so far from home, i've come to know the friends around
you are all you'll always have. smoke in my lungs, or the echoed stone. careless and
young, frees as the birds that fly with weightless souls now. we stood, steady as the
stars in the woods, so happy-hearted. and the warmth rang true inside these bones.
we grow, grow, steady as the morning.
we grow, grow, older still.

Notes: An Aang!centric mix spanning the entire series, from being frozen in the iceberg to the culmination of the war. 'Say When' always makes me think of Aang and Katara. And parts of 'My Oldest Memory' work perfectly for Aang's encounter right before the finale.
